Obsidian Entertainment is currently looking for talented, self motivated senior level Environment Artist to join our growing team of RPG developers.
The Senior Environment Artist position requires a solid understanding of environment workflows, art pipelines, form vs. function and platform limitations. As well as possess an expert knowledge of shape, form, proportions, color and design principles and how they apply to game development.
The Senior Artist will assist the Art Director define the visual target of the environments in Obsidian Entertainment's Top Secret Project, as well as help mentor the other Environment Artists and Junior Environment Artist.
Requirements

High proficiency of a major 3D software (Max, Maya or XSI) and Photoshop
-
4-year degree form an accredited college or university or equivalent industry experience preferred
-
Excellent High and Low poly modeling skills
-
Strong knowledge of architecture, materials and lighting
-
Solid grasp of color theory
-
6+ years in the game industry with 3 shipped titles
-
Ability to rapidly master proprietary tools and development pipelines
-
Ability to be resourceful and come up with creative solutions
-
Ability to be receptive to art direction and critiques from project art leads
-
Strong foundation in traditional art
-
Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate between design, art and programming

Strong organizational and mentoring skills

Passion for gaming
Pluses

Experience with a proprietary level editor i.e. Unreal, GECK, etc.

Working knowledge of ZBrush or Mudbox

Concepting Skills

VFX experience

Scripting Experience in MaxScript Python or MEL

Responsibilities
-
Create a wide range of high quality environment art assets: props, interiors and exteriors
-
Model, UV Map, texture and create the materials for environment assets
-
Integrate art assets into the level editor and light exterior and interior scenes
-
Work closely with Art Director and Level Designers to ensure the visual target is met or exceeded
-
Actively participate in technical and aesthetic problem solving discussions
-
Complete work under reasonable deadlines

Mentor junior staff by providing training, guidance, and feedback
